A teenager in Florida has been expelled from school and charged with two felonies simply because her girlfriend’s parents disapprove of their relationship. She now faces two years of house arrest and a year of probation.

Kaitlyn Hunt was a popular student at Sebastian River High School, participating in everything from cheerleading to basketball. Hunt began dating another female student and the latter girl’s parents became enraged, according to Hunt’s parents. Kaitlyn was 17 at the time the relationship began, while her girlfriend was 15. Upon Kaitlyn’s 18th birthday, her girlfriend’s parents sent the police to the Hunt home and the teenager was arrested.

Hunt was charged with two felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a child. Then, weeks before her graduation, Hunt was expelled from school.

“[The girlfriend’s parents] are out to destroy my daughter,” Hunt’s mother told the Examiner, “because they feel like she ‘made’ their daughter gay. They see being gay as wrong and they blame my daughter. Of course, I see it 100% differently. I don’t see or label these girls as gay. They are teenagers in high school experimenting with their sexuality — with mutual consent. And even if their daughter is gay, who cares? She is still their daughter.”

Infuriating. So many things wrong with this.

First, this is a case of homophobic parents blackmailing a girl they don’t like in a slimy, roundabout way that serves to mask their bigotry. I can’t believe what a cheap shot they took. Absolutely disgusting.

Second, “I don’t see these girls as gay”? Cool, thanks, Mom. Thank goodness she’s not disowning her daughter, but I don’t totally see this as being supportive either.

Third, there’s a petition circulating to drop or lessen the charges against Kaitlyn. Go sign it. And try not to lose faith in humanity, even though people like this exist.

Remember a few days ago when I said my frogs were doing okay?
Well I guess I cursed myself because literally after that I noticed Kermit had a white nose very similar to Ginny’s. So of course I made up the Hospital tank, put him in there with the solution of White Spot and Fungus to help him.

He’s still in the hospital tank, although he’s not eating and is now floating on top of the water which is a very bad sign for these froggies. They’re usually on the bottom of the water.

I checked all my other frogs when I’d moved Kermie worm to his Hospital tank, and they were all fine. No white noses or any other white spots.

Yesterday morning I checked them again in the main tank, they were fine.
Last night when I went to feed them I noticed Harry had a white nose and was hitting it against the side of the tank (very much like what Ginny did! Wormie hasn’t done that yet).
So I scooped him up and put him in Hospital tank too, and she was just floating on the top. She looked a lot more ill than wormie did, and I’d removed him first due to his white spots. Bare in mind Harry was fine THAT morning!)

She was still floating this morning when I woke up, but when I nudged her she’d swim away from me. She was still alive, but couldn’t hold up half of her body.
This is when I’d noticed she had a white spot on her back foot. They were spreading.

I have checked on her, Kermie and the main tank on and off all day, each time expecting to find someone dead or another ill frog. Thankfully none of the others are showing any signs. I just hope they don’t. Look how quick it came on to Harry.
Harry was still floating but moved and Kermie was sat on the bottom of the tank, but alive.

I went for a nap and woke up about 11pm (ish) and of course the first thing I did was check the frogs.
Harry was on the bottom of the tank, she kept trying to swim up to get some water (there was about 3 inches of water in the tank - I didn’t put a lot in because I knew sick frogs can’t always swim too far and they need air to breathe), but she just couldn’t get up to the top so I scooped her in my hand and lifted her slightly so she could gulp some air.
Normally when you go to pick frogs up they swim away like “Muuuuum leave us alone!” Harry didn’t put up a fight. I let her go back into the water fully and after about 5 minutes she hadn’t moved at all.
Ten minutes she hadn’t moved.

15 minutes. Still not moved.

I thought I’d lost her!
Then she started struggling to get air again, so I decided to empty some of the water out so that she could just stand on her feet and get air instead of swimming. Kermie appreciated this and went from sitting down to standing to dancing about. He’s a great dancer is my Kermie.

I then noticed Harry’s foot. Remember that white spot I’d seen earlier?
Well whatever it is had eating away at her foot and she’d lost part of the webbed bit as well as a toe, can you call them toes? I don’t know. But she was hurt :(
She also had a white spot right near her mouth meaning more spots had spread.

I decided to go downstairs and get an old Ice Cream tub (This type of tub not a Ben & Jerry’s type tub) so I could stick her in there. I knew she wasn’t going to last the night and I didn’t want Wormie in the tank with her body if she did pass away - especially as it’s fungus related and that would continue to grow on a dead body which would cause Kermie worm to get more ill. So I cleaned it thoroughly and filled with warm water putting all solutions to make the water nice for her, as well as more of the white post and fungus solution.
I then cleaned out the hospital tank completely so that if there was any lurgies hiding in the tank they’d be gone so it would be safe for wormie to go back in. He’s now floating, so I’m thinking he’s getting worse. :(

I left the lid off of Harry’s ice cream tub tank so I could keep an eye on her and I noticed there was blood in the water. Her foot - the one that was damaged had started to bleed. I poked her gently and she didn’t respond. I watched her for a long time and yet she didn’t move.
I put the lid on her and went downstairs with her because I wanted my mum.

I picked her up to show mum (who had now put her glasses on) so she could see all the spots and her foot. Harry didn’t move at all. I held her out of the water for a good minute and no struggle.
I placed her back in the tank and bawled my eyes out. My baby.

Next thing I see her little arm moving, she looked like she was putting all her energy into moving it, but it was hardly moving at all. Then her little side vibrated a little and then nothing. My Harry Frogger had passed on to froggy heaven.
I’d like to think that the little move of her arm was her waving to me, saying Goodbye to her Frog mum before she met her brothers in Froggy Heaven.

I’m going to make John Hurt’s Missing Doctor into a charm and place him between Eight and Nine (for now because this is my theory until we find out his actual place in the regeneration dealio).

I’ve been wanting to add to this bracelet for so long now. I am so excited.
